  2. This API provides synchronous route optimization solution to simple TSP. Hence the response time of this API depends on the route complexity and the level of optimization required to process a complex and long route.
  3. Mappls reserves the right to revoke access of this API at its own discrection.

Introduction

Route Optimization is the process of determining the most cost-efficient route. It needs to include all relevant factors such as the number and location of all the required stops on the route. In other words, this API will solve the Traveling Salesman Problem of routing and the returned path does not have to be the fastest path. As TSP is NP-hard it only returns an approximation.

General Information

Currently, not all combinations of roundtrip, source and destination are supported. Resources trip_optimization to calculate an optimized route & its duration without considering traffic conditions.

trucking Meant for Truck routing. Routing with this profile is restricted to trip_optimization or trip_optimization_eta. region & rtype request parameters are not supported in truck routing.
Coordinates "start and destination coordinates" The coordinates pairs on which route is to be calculated. Minimum two pairs needed.

where: - "trip_optimization_eta" is the chosen resource. - profile is "driving" - "77.235500,28.627136" is the start position & the end position.

Note: The position input is in decimal degree notation of longitude,latitude.

Request Parameters

  1. Mandatory Parameters:
    • REST-API-KEY (path; string) The statuc API key assigned to you for accessing this API resource.
    • coordinates (path; string) The pair of longitude & latitude (comma separated) that is taken as the coordinate pairs defining the vertices of the TSP and on which the route optimization is performed.
  2. Optional Parameters:
    • source (string) Use location with given index as source. Applicable values:
      • first
      • last
      • any (default)
    • destination (string) Use location with given index as source. Applicable values:
      • first
      • last
      • any (default)
    • steps (string) Return route steps for each route leg with intersections, classes, bearing, manuevre etc. Possible values are:
      • true
      • false (default)
    • roundtrip (string) Returned route is a roundtrip (route returns to first location). Possible values are:
      • true (default)
      • false
    • geometries (string) This parameter used to change the route geometry format/density (influences overview and per step). Possible values are:
      • polyline (default) with 5 digit precision (1e5).
      • polyline6 with 6 digit precision (1e6).
      • geojson for geometries as geojson.
    • overview (string) Add overview geometry either full or simplified and according to zoom level it could be displayed or not at all. Possible values are:
      • simplified (default) simplified geometry for higher zoomed out levels (~state zoom levels).
      • full Detailed geometry for display at all zoom levels.
      • false to not provide geometry at all.
    • region(string): This parameter is optional for India; for other countries (such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan + many more) this parameter is mandatory. Possible values are listed in a table here.

Response Parameters

  1. code (string): See the service dependent and general status codes.
  2. Server (string): It give's Information of running service server.
  3. waypoints (array of objects): An array of Route objects that assemble the trace.
    • waypoint_index (integer) Index of the point in the trip.
    • trips_index (integer) Index to trips of the sub-trip the point was matched to.
    • hint (string) Unique internal identifier of the segment (ephemeral, not constant over data updates).
    • distance (double) Distance in meters to the supplied input coordinate.
    • location (array of double) longitude, latitude pair describing the snapped location of the waypoint.
    • name (string) Name of the street the coordinate snapped to.
  4. trips (object)
    • legs (array): The legs between the given waypoints, representing an array of routes between two waypoints.
      • steps: Return route steps for each route leg depending upon steps parameter.
        • intersections: A list of Intersection objects1 that are passed along the segment, the very first belonging to the StepManeuver2.
          • classes: Categorised types of road segments e.g. Motorway
          • locations: longitude, latitude pair describing the location of the turn.
          • bearings: A list of bearing values (e.g. [0,90,180,270]) thxat are available at the intersection. The bearings describe all available roads at the intersection.
          • entry: A list of entry flags, corresponding in a 1:1 relationship to the bearings. A value of true indicates that the respective road could be entered on a valid route. false indicates that the turn onto the respective road would violate a restriction.
          • in: index into bearings/entry array. Used to calculate the bearing just before the turn. Namely, the clockwise angle from true north to the direction of travel immediately before the maneuver/passing the intersection. Bearings are given relative to the intersection. To get the bearing in the direction of driving, the bearing has to be rotated by a value of 180. The value is not supplied for depart maneuvers.
          • out: index into the bearings/entry array. Used to extract the bearing just after the turn. Namely, The clockwise angle from true north to the direction of travel immediately after the maneuver/passing the intersection. The value is not supplied for arrive maneuvers.
          • lanes: Array of Lane objects that denote the available turn lanes at the intersection. If no lane information is available for an intersection, the lanes property will not be present.
            • valid: verifying lane info.
            • indications: Indicating a sign of directions like Straight, Slight Left, Right, etc. To see the complete list of indications, please see article in wiki.
        • driving_side: “Left” (default) for India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh & Bhutan.
        • mode: signifies the mode of transportation; driving as default.
        • maneuver: A StepManeuver object representing a maneuver
          • location: A [longitude, latitude] pair describing the location of the turn.
          • bearing_before: The clockwise angle from true north to the direction of travel immediately before the maneuver.
          • bearing_after: The clockwise angle from true north to the direction of travel immediately after the maneuver.
          • modifier: An optional string indicating the direction change of the maneuver. To see the complete list of modifiers, please see article in wiki.
          • type: A string indicating the type of maneuver. New identifiers might be introduced without API change. Types unknown to the client should be handled like the ‘turn’ type, the existence of correct modifier values is guaranteed. To see the complete list of types, please see article in wiki.
        • distance: The distance of travel to the subsequent step, in float meters
        • duration: The estimated travel time, in float number of seconds
        • geometry: The un-simplified geometry of the route segment, depends on the given geometries parameter.
        • weight: Parameter for internal use only.
        • name: The name of the way along which travel proceeds.
        • ref: Highway numbers for the way, if available.
        • summary: Summary of the route taken as string. Depends on the steps parameter.
    • weight_name: Parameter for internal purpose only.
    • geometry: Returns the whole geometry of the route as per given geometries request parameter. Default is encoded polyline with 5 digit accuracy (1e5) for positional coordinates.
    • weight: Parameter for internal use only.
    • distance: The distance of travel, in float meters.
    • duration: The estimated travel time, in float number of seconds.
